Placebo, nocebo, and context effects in musculoskeletal pain: friends or foes?

FisioScience CLUB with Giacomo Rossettini, OMPT physiotherapist, MSc, PhD. Lecturer at the Master's Program in Rehabilitation of Musculoskeletal Disorders at the University of Genoa and the University of Verona. Placebo and nocebo effects represent topics of great interest in international clinical and scientific circles. They represent the positive (placebo) or negative (nocebo) outcome resulting from the interaction between the patient and various contextual factors present in health care settings that can influence the therapeutic outcome. To date, knowledge on these issues by different health professionals (e.g., physical therapists) is heterogeneous and not in-depth, resulting in limited clinical translatability and reduced impact in enhancing therapeutic outcome in the patient.

And what is the relationship between nociception and pain? Not simple questions that we will try to answer or at least try to think through together. Duration: 1 hour and 20 minutes.
